Computer Arts Cover Competition

I have absolutley no idea why I haven’t written an entry on this until now. Maybe because I have exhausted my friends by banging on about it but anyway, I recently blogged about making the top 30 in the Computer Arts/D&AD New Blood cover competition… Well, I won!

It’s a bloody big deal. Not only because the last time I won anything was the summer of ’95 school raffle (FYI I won a colouring book) but because it’s COMPUTER ARTS. I don’t want to be totally uncool and gush about them but I *am* totally uncool so it doesn’t matter. I have a growing collection of issues so OHMAGAD the next issue (#243) will have my cover design on it.

A few weeks back I was down in London and had the pleasure of going to the D&AD New Blood Exhibition in Shoreditch (on the hottest day of the year – phew!) where I saw my entry displayed at the Computer Arts stand along with the rest of the top 12 entries. I got to do a super quick demo at their stand animating my entry and I managed to do it successfully (in between moaning about how as a Scottish person anything above 30 degrees is considered tropical).

In amongst the excitement and tropical heatwave, I forgot to take a picture so I stole that from the D&AD Twitter page. It serves as a personal reminder that A. I won and B. There’s a camera on your phone for a reason. Use it.

I should also mention that it was great being at New Blood because I got to see the degree students from the year above at the Glasgow Clyde College stand. You can hop over to the course website to see some of the great work being done on the Graphic Design course there.
