Calligraphy Class
January is the month of Resolutions and one of mine was to try and improve my calligraphy skills. I am under no illusion that I’ll be giving up Adobe Creative Suite and becoming a full time employed calligrapher any time soon but it’s nice to step away from a screen and embrace hand-writing. As amazing as digital typography is, there’s something fascinating and unique about writing by hand.
I signed up for an introductory class with Glasgow based calligrapher Laura Elizabeth Patrick and it was absolutely brilliant. Informative and helpful, Laura gave the class a fantastic starter kit and tips and tricks for us to take forward.
Much like the adult colouring book phenomenon, there is something therapeutic and relaxing about writing with a nib and ink. Being passionate about letterforms helps massively too. I took some snaps of how I got on… definitely room for improvement!
